Who these terms are for
These terms apply to anyone using this website, and in particular to members of York Lodge No. 236 who hold an account in the members area. See also our Privacy & Cookies policy, which explains how we handle personal data.
Membership and conduct
Access to the members area is a privilege extended to members of the Lodge, and to others the Lodge chooses to admit (for example, a caterer account for the Steward). It does not replace, and is always subordinate to, your obligations as a Freemason under the Book of Constitutions of the United Grand Lodge of England, Lodge by-laws, and the directions of the Worshipful Master and Lodge officers.
Your account is personal to you. Please keep your password confidential, do not share your account with anyone else, and tell the Secretary promptly if you believe someone else has accessed it.
Keeping your details accurate
Please keep the information on your account — particularly your contact details and any dietary or allergy information you give us — accurate and up to date, using My details. The Lodge relies on this information to run events safely and to contact you.
Communications
Some information — the public pages of this site, and certain notices to members — is provided for general information and does not itself constitute formal notice of a Lodge meeting, which remains governed by the Lodge’s own rules on summonses.
If you opt in when accepting these terms, the Lodge may email you about upcoming Lodge events, and pass on notifications from Province, Chapter and Grand Lodge. This is separate from, and does not affect, essential account-related emails (such as sign-in links or notices about your own membership record), which are sent regardless. You can find your current communications preference on My details.
Acceptable use
Please do not use this website or the members area to do anything unlawful, to attempt to access another member’s account or data, to upload anything harmful or offensive, or to disrupt the normal operation of the site. Content in the members area — including summonses, minutes and the membership list — is for the private use of members and must not be shared outside the Lodge without permission.
Intellectual property
The Lodge’s name, warrant, badges and regalia belong to the Lodge and to United Grand Lodge of England as applicable. Photographs and text on this site are provided for information about the Lodge and may not be reproduced for commercial purposes without permission.
No warranty
This website is provided by volunteers of the Lodge on a reasonable-efforts basis. We do not guarantee it will always be available, accurate or error-free, and we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of it, except where the law does not allow us to exclude that liability.
Ending your access
If you resign, are excluded, or otherwise cease to be a member of the Lodge, your account may be suspended or removed. Your data will continue to be handled as described in our Privacy & Cookies policy.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is significant, members will be asked to review and accept them again the next time they sign in, before continuing into the members area.
Questions about these terms should go to the Lodge Secretary [contact details to be confirmed].
